Erik Sand Design og consulting

Abt. me

Erik Sand

Norwegian, born in Oslo.

I am an independent design professional specialized in web media. I have been working with web since 1996 and consider myself to be pretty experienced, both as a designer and user. I know a lot about business in general and web business in particular.

The combination of design and business skills and being a good communicator is my biggest strength. I love to have tight deadlines and difficult tasks to solve. I consider myself to be a good cooperator, open minded and always ready for a challenge.

If you have any questions or need help regarding design, web, print, don´t hesitate to contact me!

Background

Until 1996 I was working as a lithographer and we had a huge revolution in the early 90´s when the Mac and Photoshop turned a hole industry upside-down. I loved these new tools and all the things we could do with them, it was indeed a new world.

Moving over to the designbusiness in 1997 I started working in Digital-Hverdag, one of the first «hard core» internet agencies, founded and driven by Bente Sollid, a visionary young woman who saw large business opportunities in the new media.

In 2003 I was one of the co-founders of Fete typer, a design & communication company in Oslo, owning 25% I was also a member of the board. We had a lot of nice customers and the work was interresting enough but after 3.5 years I felt for a change again, I do admit I like changes. I started working in a company called Creuna, one of scandinavias best internet consultant companies.

Two years ago I quit my work as a seniordesigner in Creuna Oslo to start a new life as independent designer two days a week, and working three days a week as a media-teacher in college. I had a very interesting year teaching subjects like web-design, graphic design, photo, and the Adobe collection of tools of course. After a year I had do choose between teaching and my company, and here I am.

Although I am experienced, the best part of the web-media is the development that seems to be a never ending story, you can never say «I know everything there is to know about the web». I love learning, I love challenges, working with the web-media gives me an ongoing reason to expand my knowledge, and it challenges me to try to look into the future. What´s the next big thing to be hot? What comes after Twitter? How can my customers meet the challenges ahead and gain on their investments in smart net solutions?

The future is now, -and I am ready!

Partners

Since Erik Sand design & consulting is a very small company, I have to make alliances with companies bigger and better (at what they do) than myself.

I have spent many days, or weeks, searching to find a economic, expandable, easy-to-use content management system (C.M.S). After trying out different solutions, and speaking to a lot of companies, to see what kind of personal service they could offer, I choose Keyteq in Bergen, Norway to be my partner on C.M.S. Their solution KeyPublish is the best and most user-friendly content management system I have seen, and I have tried a lot!
